Imagine if all your fluorescent dyes could suddenly have much better performance and if every dye molecule was designed with SuperHydrophilic dPEG® groups for greater biocompatibility and extreme water solubility. AQuora Dyes are specially engineered to provide better signals and less background in fluorescence-based assays. AQuora technology even makes traditional dyes like fluorescein (FITC) and Texas Red® brighter and far less sticky.  It also makes more advanced sulfonated dyes become less negatively charged and even more hydrophilic. AQuora Dyes make low-abundance targets light up and make every precious sample count.  AQuora SuperHydrophilic technology provides dyes designed to yield greater signal-to-noise ratios and with minimal nonspecific binding.  This results in higher specificity and intensity for fluorescent imaging, flow cytometry, and western blotting applications.

Spectra Image

The AQuora line of dyes currently includes 6 fluorochromes across the fluorescent spectra to be compatible with a wide array of existing fluorescent imaging systems and suitable for multiple-labeling applications. Check back often as we are expanding our selection of available AQuora dyes frequently.

The AQuora line of dyes are currently available as reactive dyes, dye labeled secondary antibodies, and dye labeled affinity proteins.

AQuora Dye Properties

The AQuora dye spectral properties are comparable to a number of common fluorochromes making them compatible with fluorescent plate readers, immunofluorescence, flow cytometers and fluorescent western blot imaging systems. The excitation and emission profiles parallel common fluorochromes as noted below. However, the incorporation of the SuperHydrophilic technology, leads to superior production and performance of AQuora dye labeled biomolecules. Click on the spectral picture for each dye in the table below for additional dye-specific information.

AQuora Reactive Dyes

Reactive AQuora dyes allow researchers to label biomolecules such as antibodies, affinity proteins, and peptides with fluorochromes to support detection in fluorescent imaging systems. The extreme water solubility imparted by the SuperHydrophilic dPEG® technology incorporated into the fluorescent molecule allows for enhanced dye-to-protein ratios upon labeling without causing precipitation of the labeled proteins. AQuora dyes functionalized with NHS ester are amine-reactive. NHS esters are the most commonly used reactive groups for labeling primary amines on antibodies and other proteins. The maleimide-functionalized AQuora dyes react with free thiols, including innate or engineered cysteine residues in peptides and proteins. Moreover, at Quanta BioDesign, we offer reagents such as dPEG®12-SATA (S-acetyl-dPEG®12-NHS ester) (10852) to permit the introduction of protected thiols on biomolecules. Contact us for information on the availability of other reactive groups.

Use AQuora Dyes for Multiple-Labeling Applications

We offer AQuora dye labeled American Qualex affinity purified secondary antibodies for use in a wide range of immunoassays including flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and fluorescent western blotting. The highly cross adsorbed antibodies labeled with AQuora dyes are critical for multiple labeling immunofluorescent applications. Shown below is an example of multiple labeling in a fluorescent western blot where the membrane was probed with Rabbit anti-Beta Tubulin and Mouse anti-GAPDH primary antibodies followed by Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (H&L), AQuora® 650 min X Mouse, Human, Bovine, Horse (11-0201-0518) and Goat anti-Mouse IgG (H&L), AQuora® 550 min X Rabbit, Human, Bovine, Horse (11-0101-0315) and imaged on a fluorescent digital imaging system compatible with these wavelengths. Non-antibody affinity proteins, including streptavidin and Protein A are applicable in a wide range of fluorescent-based detection assays. AQuora dye labeled streptavidin binds biotinylated primary or secondary antibodies allowing for additional signal amplification over direct antibody labeling. For best results, the AQuora dye labeled streptavidin should be paired with the SuperHydrophilic dPEG® biotin reagents. We currently offer AQuora dye labeled streptavidin and an extensive line of SuperHydrophilic AQ Biotinylated Secondary Antibodies.
